Sewage Backup Cleanup in Raleigh, NC

Category 3 extraction when a Raleigh drain, lateral, or basement cleanout pushes sewage into the house.

Sewage in a living space is Category 3 from the first inch. In Wake County the source is often a blocked lateral, a basement cleanout, or a floor drain that came up during heavy rain. The water that rises at the shower, toilet, or cleanout is not something we try to dry in place.

Affected porous material comes out: pad, carpet, wet baseboard, and gypsum that wicked the waste. Hard surfaces get extracted and cleaned. We contain the area so we are not tracking it through the rest of the house. A washing machine overflow that stayed supply water is a different job. Once waste is in the water, the protocol changes.

People and pets stay out of the wet area. We use PPE rated for the work. After the material is out, the remaining structure still has to dry. If growth is already on the paper, crawl space or indoor mold remediation follows industry containment after the moisture source is stopped. North Carolina does not issue a mold remediator license, so be wary of copy that pretends it does.

Call (984) 230-5534. Do not shop-vac sewage. Do not put it in the regular trash.

Technician insight

If sewage reached the pad, the pad is gone. There is no cleaning that makes Category 3 pad acceptable under a living-room carpet. We will say that on the first visit rather than pretending a shampoo will do it.

Sewage Backup Cleanup — FAQs

Still have questions? We're happy to talk it through.

+19842305534
+ Is sewage backup covered by homeowners insurance?
Many policies exclude it unless you bought a backup endorsement. That is a policy question. We document the loss either way.
+ Can I stay in the house?
You can stay out of the contained area. If sewage reached bedrooms or the HVAC return, we will tell you to sleep somewhere else until that space is cleaned.
